HYPOXI in Mongolia

13 June 2016

Mongolia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world. Over 40 percent of the population live in the capital Ulaanbaatar. Since December 2014, there is also a HYPOXI-Studio. Marketing director Uwe Hintringer tells us about the opening.

Mr. Hintringer, how did HYPOXI get to Mongolia?

Odmaa Otgonbileg, the owner of the studio, got to know HYPOXI in Germany where she used to live. She was looking for an effective way to reduce surplus fatty deposits following pregnancy. Time-consuming training or a strict diet were out of the question for her. By chance, she went past a HYPOXI-Studio and completed a training program. Her results convinced her to the extent that she decided to bring the figure-shaping method to Mongolia upon her return.

Where is the HYPOXI-Studio located?

It’s located in the Sky Plaza Business Center, a top address in Ulaanbaatar, only five minutes from the city centre. An area of 14,000 m2 houses a gym, a sauna, a concert hall, conference rooms, restaurants and cafés. In short – a great meeting point and the ideal location for HYPOXI.

How did the team prepare for their tasks?

The staff were trained during an intensive, several week-long course. A pre-opening, or soft opening, was held on the 1st of December. The actual grand opening was in March.

Why these two steps?

As the Mongolian market was completely new to us, we wanted to start with a small number of clients. That way, the studio team had the chance to practice the processes for a few weeks before opening the studio to the general public. Nonetheless, some of the first clients came and visited us during the trial phase – even members of the Mongolian parliament.

Have there been reports in the press?

Yes, there was a big reaction. The media have shown great interest in the HYPOXI-Method from the start, and first reports were published in Cosmopolitan and in OK. Another sign of the popularity of HYPOXI is its Facebook page. It currently has over 3.000 supporters (as at June 2016).

In what ways are the training preferences of people in Mongolia different to ours?

It’s noticeable that many Mongolian clients tend to want to reduce their circumference at the stomach and focus less on legs and buttocks, as our Western clients usually do.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed and wish the HYPOXI-Team in Ulaanbaatar all the best for the future!
